Why?
As part of the design proces, the whole interaction of the website needed to be designed and documented. For this project it was very improtant the description was going to be very clear, as we were not involved in the project after the design
How?
The design phase of the project was a very close collaboration between myself and the creative team. We had done and won the pitch together, which meant we knew eachother and had a good feeling for the way we were going to cooperate. Alas, as often is the case, there wasn’t enough budget to do it the way we had proposed to do it, so some corners had to be cut.
We had several meetings with the business owners of the project durign the project, to verify we were still moving in the right direction. Having a well-documented interaction design really helped these meetings.
So What?

The site was going to be very interactive and tool-like. It is difficult to design all those interactions on paper. The fact that we were going to design the whole thing first, after which the technical party would take the interaction design and implement it, wasn’t very helpful.
I would much rather work closely together with the people building the product. Rich intercations could be prototyped that way, and it would make the specification of the design document better.
