Why?
Encapsulating audience research, particularly segmentation and behaviors from Prizm’s MyBestSegments.com, we played a trading game with our clients to stimulate conversation and better understand the personality nuances and preferences of their customers during a persona creation workshop.
How?
- Conducted online demographic research, customer interviews by phone and in-store observation of purchase decisions and support transactions
- Sorted and summarized attributes and behaviors into content layed out on trading card template in Visio
- Printed on sturdy paper and cut out
- Shuffled and dealt out randomly to clients at person creation workshop
- Ran simple 2 minute timer while clients rushed around taping relevant cards to personal flip charts
- Lead follow-up discussion revealing conflicted understanding of audience segment traits that would become persona personalities
So What?
Games are great for stimulating conversation, but need to be well planned ahead of time and structured with time limits.
